Synopsis

Ann Lee, founder of the Shaker movement, rises from humble beginnings to lead a radical sect in the late 1700s through visions, song, dance and communal devotion. Her community proclaims her the “female Christ” as she builds a utopian vision amid persecution and grief. The film portrays the formation of a religious movement anchored in equality, ritual and radical belief.
